The non-profit residency is designed for ​non-working individuals who want to reside in Spain for more than 3 months and already have a reliable source of income or sufficient resources to live in Spain whitout working.

The key to obtaining this permit is to prove that you have sufficient livelihoods to live in Spain.

Steps to follow:

Step 1: Submission of the application to the Consulate

  • Submit your application to your local Spanish Consulate
  • Prove your means of livelihood:
    • With documents proving that you have sufficient economic means for the period of residency in Spain or you receive a non-working, permanent, monthly income (eg. pension) – a monthly salary shall not be considered sufficient to fulfil this requirement, because it is not a permanent income).
    • Through an average bank balance, showing that you maintained a minimum balance in your bank account during the last year. The average balance shall include client’s name and account number, and shall have a minimum recommended value of € 30,000 per person + € 3,000 for each additional member of the family.

REQUIREMENTS:

Certification of absence of criminal/police records;

– Medical certificate of the applicant;

– Private insurance in Spain;

– With this permit you won’t be able to be hired by any company, at least during the first year. This permit just entitles you to legally reside in Spain.

After 6 months, however, you will have the possibility of changing the nature of the residency permit, in case you want to work.

– Birth and marriage certificate of each family member;

– Family members can also obtain residence permit as family members of a legal residents.

– The permit will be renewable as long as you can prove that you have sufficient means to live in Spain without working.

– If you submit more visa applications – for spouse and children – you shall present separately for each one all the documents described in the previous points (original and two copies) .

– The Consulate can request any additional documentation it deems necessary.
